I'm having a moment right now.
I'm realizing that while it is insanely chilly (a mere 34 degrees) for this southern girl living in the southeast, it is even more insanely cold (18 degrees, wind chill of 4 degrees with snow) in the place I will be living at this time next year. And there are places in the "lower 48" that will be much, much, much colder than that this week.
Y'all.
Seriously.
I don't know what I'm gonna' do!
I've had very kind friends give me tips on survival in such cold conditions, all the while stifling the giggles (I can hear them!) over my complete ineptitude on real winter weather. But when it comes down to it, I am overwhelmed.
My kids fought me this morning while trying to layer them up this morning. In fact, Bull is continuing to complain that he has two shirts on today. Gator doesn't like to wear hats. I hesitate to tell him that he just needs to suck it up! because he will wear one every day next winter!
For now I will try to relish in the fact that I am relatively warm at a balmy 34 degrees.
Maybe I'll just fill up the pool and go for a swim.
Maybe not.

Ahhhh.....
I guess the only "advice" I have is that hopefully your blood will thicken and get "use" to the cold weather... is that possible?
After having been stationed in Michigan for 3 years, I can tell you that is a total lifestyle change. Never did I think I would get to know a snowscraper so well, or which ones work better, and the how-to's of driving on snow/ice/salt/and slush. Jacob was 19 mths old when we moved back down here, so I don't have a whole lot of advice for dealing with the kids. Jacob knew nothing else at the time! You will definitely be in alot of our prayers!
Okay, so I've had a couple of thoughts on this. One - just think about when the spring/summer does come, how wonderful it's going to feel! You will appreciate it more than you ever have in your whole life. It will be warm, inviting, vigorous and uplifting and a true reminder that God's promises are true. Spring/summer always does that for me. Besides, the summers you have always experienced have been way too hot, sticky and humid, right? I imagine Kansas summers will be downright delicious and relaxing! And two - if I were you, I would start stocking up now on hats, mittens, and scarves at the winter clearance sales that stores are now having. That way, you will be ready to start the fall/winter in your new home. Your boys and you, can never have too many of those items - you know those pesky mittens always get lost in the season, so get prepared with many pairs. Oh cuz, you precious thing - God will meet all your needs and more - you hot momma Florida girl! love, toni
