Year in Review - 2009

And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” Rev. 21:5

Our family enjoyed a year of all things NEW in 2009!

Monkey is our NEWest addition, arriving dramatically and quickly on December 22nd. He tipped the scales at 9 pounds, 9 ounces! He is an easy-going, sweet baby, qualities that serve him well! Monkey is smiling, cooing, growing, healthy and happy. We look forward to all the NEW he will add to our house in 2010!

Bull (4) has embraced his NEW role as big brother, and still enjoys being a little brother. He asks Christie to feed Monkey any time he cries, proudly declares, “That’s my brother Monkey,” and shushs people because “Monkey is sleeping.” Bull stayed close to Christie while she battled “all day” sickness, offering sweet snuggles and running errands around the house. One of his NEWest funny sayings is, “I looove sandwiches (or anything else that he fancies at the moment)!” Bull is delightful and passionate!

Gator (7) became a NEW creation when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in January. He was baptized by his daddy in September. He played two NEW sports – indoor soccer (very different from outdoor soccer!) and basketball, and started a NEW school. Gator entered 1st grade in August, and has a NEW love for reading. He still loves anything to with sports, and prefers ESPN to cartoons. Gator is the trail blazer and the ring leader of his brothers!

Hubs entered his NEW career in February, reporting to the Army’s Chaplain school. After graduating in April, we reported to our NEW duty station in the Midwest. He has found an abundance of ministry opportunities including serving soldiers affected by the tragedy at Fort Hood. He was privileged to escort the family of one of the victims to the Memorial Service, officiated the victim’s funeral at Arlington, and met the President. Hubs has enjoyed coaching Gator’s sports teams, leading our neighborhood Bible study, and playing percussion with the worship team at our Chapel. Although the pace of life is frenetic at times, he truly enjoys his NEW role as a Chaplain.

Christie has enjoyed feathering the nest in two NEW houses this year. Right after Monkey’s birth, we were given the opportunity to move into a four bedroom house. We are so excited to have the extra space. She has met many NEW friends and has loved teaching Bible studies with a NEW group of ladies through Protestant Women of the Chapel. Also, she reNEWed an interest in two old hobbies: photography and sewing. She continues to chronicle our life on her blog. Christie loves this house full of boys!

Other NEW experiences included taking advantage of our NEW location by visiting Wyoming, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Montana, Little Big Horn, Mount Rushmore, Black Hills of South Dakota, and Nebraska. We also welcomed a NEW nephew in July and a NEW niece in August, and made NEW, wonderful memories when we took Gator and Bull to the Disney parks for the first time.

We pray that as the NEW Year unfolds you will place yourself in the grip of the One who is Faithful and True. There is no better place to be found!
